MWaP|Teh Blog Commenting Policy

Updates will be noted at the top of this post as they are made, and the comments policy is available from the top menu tabs.

(A Note About Commenting Here:  If you comment, your first comment will require my approval.  Once your first comment has been approved, subsequent comments will post immediately.  If you commented previously at TiTT or Portly Dyke, your first comment at this new blog may require moderation before it appears.)

============================================
THE POLICY:

You are commenting at my personal blog.

You do not have a “right” to comment here — you have the privilege of doing so — a privilege which I reserve the right to revoke at any time.

I welcome — and like– vigorous, informed, respectful discussions.  I am not afraid of disagreement.   I invite you to respectfully challenge me on fallacious thinking, shoddy statistics, personal opinions expressed as fact, etc..  I am rather notoriously willing to engage patiently and civilly with people who communicate civilly and thoughtfully, even if we don’t agree.

That said, engaging in the following practices and behaviors will result in your comments either being edited by me or deleted outright.:

  • Using misogynist, sexist, racist, homophobic, trans-phobic, fat-phobic, able-ist, or classist slurs or epithets (when directing them toward any individual or group, rather than referring to such language for the purpose of discussing it). Example: If the best argument you can come up with is “You’re a fat hairy-legged pervert!”, your comment will be deleted as a waste of server space, bandwidth, and mental real-estate.
  • Threatening me or any commenter on my blog, whether overtly or subtly.
  • Trolling, sock-puppeting, comment-spamming, posting hate speech, or making frequent off-topic comments which are simply argumentative or belligerent and which you can not (or do not) tie to the original post in some logical way (aka thread de-railment).  If you don’t know what trolling, sock-puppeting, or thread derailing is, please look them up.  I will not spend time explaining these to you, because Google Is Your Friend.

Multiple offenses will probably result in you being banned from commenting altogether.

And no, that is not an abridgment of your freedom of speech — you are free to create your own blog and say whatever you want– at your personal blog.    I am not the government or governmental entity, so I actually lack the capability of violating your First Amendment rights. Look it up.

And yes, I get to be the sole judge of whether or not you’ve violated this comments policy — it’s my blog.

In a nutshell, if you act like a jerk at my blog, I will release the Kraken.

  1. Hi Carol, I have enjoyed seeing your comments on fb. so I came here to find out more about you. You are obviously a fascinating character. I would love to know you better. I see you are a friend of my friend Jean-Ellen Kegler. Did you get to know her when you lived in Emporia? Also I’m wondering if you ever crossed paths with my daughter Beth. I’m betting you two have a lot in common. I love you walking poems. Please DO NOT release the Kraken in my direction. I assure you my intentions are pure. More later? JH

      Hi Jerilynn — Yes, Jean-Ellen and I go back to my HS and college days in Emporia. I’m not sure if I know your daughter — same last name? And don’t worry — the Kraken is napping atm. :)
